Event - Dance Festival

4 December 2008

Pupils, staff and parents had a fantastic time at the second Calthorpe School Sports Partnership dance festival on December 4th.

Building on the success of the first festival in July of this year, young people from Primary and Secondary schools were invited, along with Betty Fox Stage School who thrilled the crowd with three dances, including tap and cheerleading performances.

Dancers from Clifton and Calthorpe Schools appeared, with some performing in front of an audience for the first time, with street dance and High School musical performances. All thoroughly enjoyed it and received medals for their excellent work.

Nailah and Zara (Year 6 pupils) exclaimed 'We had great fun seeing other people dance and were so happy when other people clapped us. We are now more confident to perform in front of an audience. We can perform anywhere in the future!'

A special mention should go to Christine McGuiness and Clair Carroll/Ann Frew who choreographed the Clifton and Calthorpe dances respectively and Abi Douglas, Artistic Director of Betty Fox Stage School.

The night finished with all the dancers, members of staff and parents joining in a Cha-Cha slide, led by Young Leaders from St. Albans School.

Pupils take part in a whole group Cha-cha Slide.
