Event - Year 6 at Woodgate Valley Nature Reserve

November 2008

At the end of November, Year 6 children visited Woodgate Valley Nature Reserve as part of our science work.

Once we were all kitted out in wellies and warm layers, we set off exploring the woodlands. We were learning about seed dispersal and our aim was to find as many different seeds as possible, then to think about how they dispersed themselves.

Later, we used these seeds to make clay head models and it was lots of fun giving them different names!

Before we went, we learnt about the different seeds we were seeking.

Once we had our wellies on, we were off!

We were told about different trees and the types of seeds they produced.

We worked in pairs, collecting seeds in a box.

We sorted the seeds into different dispersal types.

We made clay faces using the seeds. This one was called 'Nature Boy'.
