Event - Year 5 visit Sutton Park

5 May 2010

As part of our International Primary Curriculum topic, Year 5 had the chance to visit a river. We went to Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield to look at places where rivers begin and how they become larger until they run into the sea.

We travelled on the bus and the train to get there. It took about an hour in total.

We recorded information such as the river speed and the river depth. We also looked at some man made lakes and ponds and we saw one of the many springs in Sutton Park.

We had a great day, but were very tired by the time we came home.

Danny told us all about how the ponds were formed.

Keepers well which is actually one of the many springs in Sutton Park.

The train journey was lots of fun.

We had to estimate how fast we thought the river was flowing.

We used a stick to measure the speed of the flow can you spot it in the water his name was Bob.
