Event - Balsall Heath Carnival Winners

5 July 2008

After a week of fantastic art activities, over 100 pupils from Clifton Primary School took to the streets of Balsall Heath to take part in the annual carnival. This year the theme was Caring for the Environment.

During the week leading up to the carnival, we were helped by community artist, Gary Jones to turn shopping trolleys into wonderful creations – a scarecrow, a polar bear and a parrot. We also made our own costumes of blackbirds, iceburgs and exotic rainforest birds.

We felt so proud as we paraded through the local community, being cheered on by our friends and families. We were delighted to find out that we were the winners as the competition had been tough! Mrs Waters collected the prize from the stage for us.

We had such an enjoyable day – we hope to participate next year and who knows, maybe we will win again!
