Event - Year 4 Visit Dudley Museum

November 2013

In November the children in Year 4 went on a trip to Dudley Museum and Art Gallery.

This half term the children have been learning about dinosaurs as part of their IPC topic and couldn't wait to learn more at Dudley Museum. The museum currently have exhibits called 'Return of the Dinosaurs', 'Fantastic Fossils' and 'Dudley Unearthed'; all perfectly suited for our current topic.

The Year 4 children were split into two groups who went on two different days and both groups had a very enjoyable time. We learnt about how dinosaurs lived, how we know so much about them and how our knowledge of dinosaurs has changed in recent history.

The children were given an insight into the life of Mary Anning; one of the most famous palaeontologists to have been born in the UK.

The children also had the opportunity to handle historical artefacts including bones, teeth, claws and fossilised poo. After washing our hands we also saw a life-size woolly mammoth, it was amazing!

The staff at the museum were very friendly and had lots of information that interested us all. Everyone had a fantastic day that we will never forget.
