Event - Clifton Wins the Paul Shoesmith Award

March 2014

Clifton has been successful in winning the Paul Shoesmith Award, which is given to schools by Link2ICT for their innovative use of ICT.

Assistant Heads, Mrs Allen and Miss Redhead, ICT Support Officer, Mr Mahmood and Governor, Ms Whitting, all attended the Link2ICT Conference in March to receive the award. As well as a large trophy, the award included a £500 prize which we will be using for a workshop in school with the Now Robots!

Clifton's use of ICT is based around the philosophy of 'anywhere, anytime learning' and children are encouraged to select and use technology across the curriculum to support their learning. This approach is supported in several ways, including:

  • ICT week, including eSafety day activities and parent workshops.
  • ICT Buddies.
  • Computing and programming work in ICT lessons, towards the new curriculum.
  • A new and updated website.
  • 360 one-to-one devices in Key Stage 2.
  • Shared iPads across school.
  • ICT week.

It is hoped that in taking this approach we are equipping our pupils with the skills they need for a changing future, whatever that might look like.
