Event - Year 3 Meet Worcester Warriors

12 November 2008

On Wednesday 12th November, the Year 3 children were treated to a visit from some members of the Worcester Warriors team.

As part of a Black History project, the children were looking at prominent black and Asian sports people from the past and present. The children had been following the Premiership games from the beginning of the season, so were very excited to find out that two of the players from the Warriors would be coming in to work with them.

Once the children knew that Miles Benjamin and Marcel Garvey would be coming in, they used the internet to do as much research as they could. They thought about what questions they would like to ask them and wrote them down.

Miles and Marcel arrived with Community Rugby Coach Steve Joslin in the morning and began with a question and answer session. The children then went outside to take part in some rugby skills. Steve led the sessions where the children learnt how to pass the rugby ball and 'tackle' each other without any physical contact! They played a game of tag rugby in groups and had great fun!

They were disappointed when the session finished, but were thrilled that some of them have been given the opportunity to see a Warriors game at Sixways.
