Event - Young Apprentice Project

December 2008

In December 2008, Year 5 were invited to take part in the Young Apprentice Project.

We had to think about what we could make that we could then sell on a market stall at Birmingham Rag Market. The group decided that they would make purses, bags, photos frames and bracelets.

We spent two weeks working together with Ms Fortnum and Mrs Sheldon producing a selection of items that the children then decorated by sewing beads, buttons and sequins on to. We also had support from Mrs Yafai and the parents of the S.A.G project.

The Young Apprentices raised a grand total of £67.80 all of which was donated to the Children in Need Appeal.

The Young Apprentices attended an award ceremony at the chamber of commerce. The team won second place and received a cheque for £140.00 for Clifton Primary. They have decided to use this money to buy a bench for the playground. We are going to have a plaque with the names of the children engraved on it and this will then be attached to the bench.

Many thanks to all the children, parents and staff who supported the project.
