Economic Wellbeing
At Clifton, we aim to support parents in as many ways as we can to reduce any costs that might be incurred while their children are pupils at Clifton.
Uniform and Book Bags
At Clifton, our PE kit is our uniform so that all children are ready for an active day. This means that families do not have to buy a traditional uniform or extra school shoes in addition to comfortable PE clothes and trainers. Our uniform is a red Clifton PE t-shirt, any black legging or joggers and a red Clifton or plain jumper or cardigan. We give EVERY child a FREE PE t-shirt and children in receipt of Pupil Premium a voucher for a half price branded jumper. Families can choose to wear traditional uniform if they wish. We provide every child with a free book bag when they join Clifton and we do not expect children to bring in their own pencil cases or pens as they get older.
We also run a ‘Deposit Closet’ every half term where we provide donated pre-loved uniform and clothes to families.
Breakfast for every child
We provide free bagels for every child as they come into school in the morning. Where there are left over bagels these can be eaten at breaktime.
Trips
We heavily subsidise all trips so that they are affordable. Children in receipt of Pupil Premium will pay half the recommended contribution. The trip will still go ahead for all children even when payment isn’t made.
School Clubs
All after school clubs run at a cost to the school and are free to all pupils.
Learning to play an instrument
Every child in Year 3 will learn how to play an instrument. Children may then choose to continue learning as they progress through Years 4, 5 and 6 and the school pays for this tuition.
Holiday Clubs
The school is open every holiday for holiday clubs run by Street Futures. This is funded by HAF in the bog holidays (Summer, Christmas and Easter). The school funds further clubs every half term to ensure children have somewhere safe and warm to be.
Weekend Activities
The school is open on a Saturday for football and on a Sunday for cricket and multi-sports to the community. There is a very low hire charge to community partners so that the cost of attending these clubs is kept low.
Family Hub Support
We have a team of three members of staff who are able to signpost families if they are in need of financial support. They are also able to support with housing and benefit problems. They will also support eligible families to apply for family support funds and grants, beds and white goods. They can also make referrals for food banks and food parcels.
